New £200 gene test to reveal which men will go bald by 40 so you can prevent hair loss early | Mail Online

‘A positive result means you have a 70 per cent chance of being  significantly bald by the age of 40.

Scientists discovered the genetic variation several years ago but this is the first commercial test  to reveal whether men have inherited it.

In the test, a sample of saliva is taken from inside the cheek and sent to a specialist laboratory in the US to be checked for a genetic variation. If it is present, hair  follicles are likely to react to a  hormone in the body and gradually stop growing.

It’s one of the signs of ageing young men most dread. But now a new £195 DNA test will warn if you are likely to lose your hair – and let you take preventative action before it’s too late.
